Merry Xmas

Better late than never.  Can you spot me in the photo?  Here’s a hunt – I’m behind a Nikon 12-24mm f/2.8 lens.

The shooter shooting the shooter

Here’s a great photo taken by pro shooter Sven Martin.

Holiday postcards….

A quick little gallery from a recent little trip.  Back shooting bikes again this week.

Point-of-View

_D2X4522

I have been asked by the folks at vitalMTB to send in some POV stuff for a series of stories they’re running.  I have a few in my archive but I wanted more so I designed my own camera mount for my chest and went out and played yesterday.  The chest device worked pretty well but I now have to come up with a better trigger as trying to fire the camera with a PW and minimal grip on the bars is a little sketchy to say the least.  Be sure to keep checking vitalMTB to see the rest of the stuff and other POV shots from photographers around the world.

Downtime

IMG_0114

I’ve had a little downtime over the past few weeks hence why no updates. It’s almost full race season, and that combined with some other projects I’m working on mean that I have a crazy few months ahead of me.  It’s been good to step back and just enjoy riding my bike as I am a rider first, photographer second.

We got to do some downhilling

I love to ride a downhill bike and it’s hard for me to stop riding and take photos on fun tracks like what we road today at Crested Butte.  Lucky for me Mick Ross stop being my model and took a shot of me. Thanks Mick.

Riding above the tree line

d77_1805

I was riding above the tree line today in Crested Butte, Colorado.  The only bad thing about riding trails as good as these is that the weather can come change in a second.  We were caught is a really bad storm but it ended up making the ride more fun and the lightning and hail were ignored with scenery like this.

Never go to NYC

Because it’s bad for the wallet.  All the good camera stores are in town and you just can’t resist.  I’m in the Canada at the moment at the Mont Sainte Anne world cup.  Go to littermag to see my stuff.

I am going to attempt 100 Km’s

I’m not one for riding long distances but the boys at Australian Mountain Bike (AMB) magazine have twisted my arm and convinced me to enter in the Dirt Works 100km race this weekend.  I don’t think that I even ridden 100km this whole year so it should be interested.  I’ve come up with a unique idea for a story for the event so keep an eye out for a future issue of AMB to feel my pain.

Why this time of year?

Hot and dry - not fun for a photographer

Hot and dry - not fun for a photographer

It’s a question I have always asked myself – why do they hold the Mountain Bike Nationals this time of year.  It’s the hottest, driest, fly-blowniest, most miserable time to be riding a bike around the dust bowl of Mt Stromlo.  March would me so much nicer or even October when it’s still green from winter.   And you riders think it’s bad, try standing on the side of the mountain all day.
